They can and have proposed a longer runway. There’s a handful of homes in East Haven that block it.

Yes I remember that happening. They can propose it but I don't see it going thru. I have been in the area plenty of time when a plane would come through and it literally
sounded like a plan was coming thru the roof so bigger planes would be a no good. Luckily for new haven its still close to other airports so its one of the few cities that can still thrive without a direct airport.

The sale of Dixwell Plaza for an ambitious redevelopment has been approved. It will be interesting to see how the project proceeds. Jay

Longtime New Haven businessman, Joel Shiavone, is proposing a refreshingly low scale development on Wall Street by subdividing the one acre city owned parking lot at the corner of State Street into 20 smaller lots. The lots would allow owners to build townhouse type building in line with historic sections of Wooster Square. Looks to be a good idea to me. Hope it moves forward. Jay

That's cool. I have no problem with mid rises, but that's a rare developer that isn't trying to squeeze every dollar off a lot's development in order to maintain character.

I'm pretty sure these houses will be top dollar if it is completed because they would have city views. Still good idea though.

The iconic architecture and engineering firm Kevin Roche John Dinkeloo and Associates is being renamed Roche Modern and is returning to New Haven from Hamden. The firm began in New Haven as Eero Saarinen and Associates 70 years ago and has been one of the world’s most respected architects ever since. Great to see its continuing. Jay
