Tons of similar neighborhoods were razed for highways/urban renewal

New Haven has more character than Stamford urban neighborhoods especially East Rock/Wooster Square and East Shore is nice as well. Downtown area it is neck and neck but would say Stamford is less sketchy.

Neck and neck? not in the slightest. Night and day, though sometimes "character" doesn't age well. Decay, mold, rodents, beyond repair and facelifts. Sometimes it just needs to come down.

Luckily nothing in New Haven's downtown is in disrepair.

Structurally, no. The green itself is well maintained, but the southeast corner has, um, personnel issues.
