Interesting news just across the river.

Goodwin College plans $10.5M manufacturing annex | HartfordBusiness.com

In addition to the $10.5 million, 15,340-square-foot manufacturing annex.....eventually, the college plans more campus development, valued overall at roughly $125 million, including a 60-slip marina and buildings to house a hotel and other commercial-retail tenants. Those plans are contingent on a number of factors, including possibly attracting a joint-venture partner to the project, Goodwin President Mark E. Sheinberg said.

Funny we posted at the same time.

Anyways if they can get developers to fund this great. I think the state should avoid helping other then approvals etc.

Interesting article on the proposed redevelopment of Dillon Stadium to bring in a professional soccer team. I knew soccer was popular in the capitol city but did not realize that it ranked among the most in the country. Professional soccer should do well here. Jay

The date for proposals from developers interested in redeveloping the NoDo area around Dunkin Donuts Park has been extended to March 1st. The city says there has been a lot of interest and the extra time will allow more developers to submit proposals. I hope that is true. Jay

One Talcott Plaza to be demolished, headed for redevelopment

Downtown Hartford's Derelict One Talcott Plaza Headed For Redevelopment - Hartford Courant

It's a safe bet the parking garage will actually get built. After that, who knows. With the visibility that lot has from the highway, it would be a great spot for a casino (just kidding or not).

One Talcott Plaza was once a warehouse and parking garage for the adjacent G. Fox Department Store. It has two sky bridges over Talcott Street connecting the buildings. The warehouse was converted to office space over 30 years ago and has since fallen into disrepair from neglect. One of the skybridges is very ornate with a clock and interesting detail. I kind of hate to see it demolished. Still the building and garage are no longer safe so it makes sense to demolish it and replace it with something useful. Will see if anything other than the garage becomes a reality. Jay
