Low this morning was 75 again. This time it will break a "record hi low" for the date barring something really unusual in a thunderstorm as today's record is just 71 set in 1991.
Thanks. 5:30 a.m and they are even warmer this morning at 77. Looks like 77 was their low. That's got to be another one for the record books...

Hey guys... use this site for up to date lows/highs and stuff. You don't have to wait for the 6hr from NWS, this site will give it to you right away..

Either with this link that shows current OBS and the low/max of the day. "Air" = current

IEM :: CT_ASOS Current Conditions

Or this one that shows the entire month. Last 3 days the lows have been near the normal max temps (pink dots)

IEM :: Site Info: BDR Bridgeport/Sikorsky

Or this site that shows the actual Min, Max, Precip & Snow vs normal and records. And highlights the departures.

Notice the 90° is a record high and was 14 above normal, as was the low.

The record low yesterday was 46° in 1971 and 1956! NICE!

Normal High is 76°. Normal low is 61° now.

Really windy here this morning as well and I agree doesn't feel as bad but winds are still out of the SW.

Wind Speed SW 13 G 22 mph

It will feel even better when those Northwest winds kick in....

Front should head offshore by mid afternoon, which will bring much drier airmass into region on W/NW winds. Expect clearing this afternoon with decreasing humidity.

Drier air will bring a cooler night tonight as winds diminish, and used a blend of MOS guidance which tends to verify better with radiational cooling. Expect lows in 50s across much of region with 40s in typical cooler valleys. Highs Mon will top out in 70s and weak gradient will lead to afternoon sea breezes along both coasts.

4 Maps...

6am Temps and Dews. Insane. And more so there's not a lot of rain with the front. Look to the west... Ahhhhhhhh morning 50s!

Compare it to the South temps and dews.. We are pretty much the same as the south lately...Not florida though. And of course not since like March like they have been dealing with this.

Surface Map.. See the front?? PUSH!!!! Texas & Oklahoma are first to feel the dryness and coolness before us which is typical

Upper level pattern... See the ridge being pushed East over the Atlantic because of the little dip in the Jet? Figures a cold front without much water with it. Must be because of you know what ............. talking about the drought. lol

A couple of days ago, channel 30 (NBC) showed a city official standing in a lake bed in the Worcester, MA area. Normally where the man stood would have close to 20 feet of water there! And I thought our drought was bad!

(Just realized you were talking about my post on BDR, not the one on NYC and had to totally change this response). Yes, they broke it yesterday with a low of 75. Today's "record" is 72 in 2013 but it's supposed to cool down a lot after dark so we may get lower before midnight we'll see.

NWS seems to think Tuesday night/Wed morn may get warm muggy again, but probably won't see record highs on the lows (that comes off the tongue interesting) because Tuesday morning will be cool and like today, on Wed. it may start to cool off enough before midnight to make the low occur then and not be a record. Plus it's not supposed to be as warm for the morning low (they are thinking around 70 Wed. morn in NYC and upper 60s in BDR)

Check this out! Whoa.

A bridge in CT that has been under water for 60 yrs is now visible and accessible.

The Ghost Bridge And Highway Of Colebrook River Lake - Courant Community

Quote:
The bridge once spanned the west branch of the Farmington River and flowed through the village of Colebrook River near the border of Massachusetts. In order to quench Connecticut's thirst and control flooding downstream in the 1950s and 1960s, the Army Corps of Engineers came in and purchased land, homes, a church and a schoolhouse, and relocated a cemetery in Massachusetts. Everything was demolished, including a suspension bridge. A dam was built creating a 750-acre lake. The village of Colebrook River was a distant memory.

But the iron bridge remained, a watery gravestone so the village of Colebrook River would never be forgotten. Over the years, the water levels dipped and the top of the bridge appeared like an apparition on the surface of the lake. But this summer was different. Levels of the lake have dropped to historic lows due to the drought. And much of the northern portion of the lake resembles a barren desert.

And the iron span — known as Harvey Mountain Bridge — has taken its rightful place again, spanning the sliver of river that still flows through the area. During my visit last week, people marveled at the old iron bridge. Some old-timers came with shocked faces, noting they had never seen the water level so low. Others walked their dogs across like it was some kind of daily ritual for all these years.

The bridge is still in remarkable shape for being underwater for nearly half a century. The span is rusted orange, but seems as sturdy as the day it was built. Large boulders — perhaps put into place as the town was abandoned — mark the western entrance. A roadway can still be seen on the eastern side of the bridge. It leads up the bank past once-submerged old stone walls into the deep forest. Lost pieces of the village — bits of bricks and rusted hinges — can be seen in the muddy dirt.
It's also fascinating to see the stumps of old trees that once lined the banks of the Farmington. The stumps have been so well-preserved by being submerged that they look like they were cut down a few years ago and not decades ago. On some of the stumps you can count the tree rings

The bridge isn't the only reminder of the lake bottom's not so distant past. Seven miles of Route 8 had to be relocated farther west when the dam was built. But the old Route 8 remained and visitors can still follow old macadam and the faded white center line. The road takes you just over the Massachusetts border into Sandisfield, where visitors cross over an iron bridge built by the Berlin Construction Co. of Berlin, Conn. The bridge is the last remnant of old Route 8 before the road merges with the relocated Route 8.

The rains will eventually return. The lake will fill up again and the bridge and highway will again disappear into its watery grave. But at least for now, the bridge is calling out to anyone who will listen. So go and cross over her. Stop in the middle and admire the view up and down the Farmington once again. They say you can't live in the past. But for a brief time during the drought of the summer of 2016, you can tell people you did.

Follow Route 8 north about 7 miles north of Winsted and take a right at the entrance to the Colebrook River Lake boat launch. Visitors can travel along the remnants of Route 8 in their cars or hike along the old highway. The iron bridge is a mile north of the parking area. There is a kiosk at the boat launch with detailed maps of the area. Vehicles should stay on the pavement at all times.

the cold front has come!!! I went outside and lifted up my hands to the sky and said THANK YOU!

Had a NW wind gust to 40mph 30 minutes ago. Skys were dark with blue on the other side of it. No rain!

Air dried out so FAST it was incredible! Dews tanked to low 60s from mid 70s Now in the 50s already??

See White Plains at 58?

Severe Thunderstorm warning for Boston and the MA, NH, ME coast now, the line is holding up
