Did Rowland do anything for Waterbury? Was Rowland a Mayor for Waterbury can't even recall. I think Ganim would do more for Bridgeport if having more power.

John Rowland was born in Waterbury and he was never a mayor. He served with the House of Representatives from CT's 5th district which includes Waterbury. I believe he worked with UTC right before he became governor.

He called Waterbury "the center of the universe". He added a UConn campus there and moved DMV headquarters there. I believe he also got funding for the Palace Theater while Governor. He got the I-84 widening project moved up to a higher priority so the first phase was under construction when he resigned from office. After he resigned the second phase project dropped in priority so only now is it under construction. I am sure there is more but offhand these are the ones I remember. Jay
