Bridgeport is starting to grow on me. Like to explore the restaurants down there and Steel Pointe. I be open to renting in Bridgeport, but living the taxes and crime feel is too high.

Nothing wrong with Black Rock, St. Mary's By the Sea, Park Avenue and the North End around SHU.

Surely you must know that as a renter you don't pay property tax.
The western end is nice and fine for your budget. Black Rock might be a little high.
Avoid the eastern side.

Yep that's what I mean rather rent than buy due to taxes

Steelpoint Update

I was at Brass Pro Shop last Saturday during beautiful sunny warm summer day weekend where shopping centers are busy almost everywhere. Brass Pro Shop in Bridgeport was almost empty around 12:30 PM only 40 cars in parking lot out of 250 parking spaces. The store felt empty lines were short and employees look bored. I ask employee if the store always like this they told me it not that crowded. Driving on I-95 not alot of cars was exiting for Brass Pro Shop when I left most of cars was heading back on highway only 2 cars head downtown.

Remember it's an outdoor orientated store so when it's a nice day outside during the weekend, it's not going to be busy because everyone is out fishing, boating, or out on the beach. Cabelas is the same way. When it rains that's when you see the lines.

Just an interesting note...since that Bass Pro Shops is buying Cabelas (the whole franchise) this will most likely mean the managers there would be fired and replaced since Bass Pro Shops pays less. At least that's what I heard. Unfortunate for them.
