Nonsense. A few thousand go per game, but it needs to be much higher, Somerset ballpark on weekends is either filled or very close with a similar park, same league. Bluefish are in bottom half of league attendence. I'd like to see them do more promos-might make a go of it. In minor leagues, promos do wonders.

A single retail store lacks that impact.

Chavez Bakery is on the West Side (actually it is called the West End) but they now have a store in Fairfield so I guess you do not have to go there. Jay

There's also a Chaves Bakery in Shelton as well.

Chaves has plenty of locations so I wouldn't be choosing the West Side one. And the West Side is different from the West End, but nobody uses the term "West End" because that is the Black Rock/Brooklawn area.

No, my family lived there for decades. The area where Chavez is located is commonly called the West End. I never heard anyone from the area call it or any part of Bridgeport the West Side. Brooklawn is to the north of it and Black Rock is to the southwest. The area to the south was called Hunk Town because it used to have a high population of Hungarians. This was before the city demolished the area back in the 60's for factories. Jay

That's weird because I never hear that now. I work at Bassick and everyone calls it West Side, which always made sense to me because it is immediately adjacent to Downtown like East Side is.

I always thought Black Rock, West, North, East, and then another area

I asked a family member. She said the two are interchangeable today. West of Clinton is the West End while east of it is West Side. Bassick is east of Clinton so it is called West Side. I knew someone that lived on Wordin Avenue for decades and she said West End. I did find the neighborhood map in the link below and it lumps the two together. Interesting how things change over the years. Jay

Ah ok that does make sense, being kind of symmetrical to East Side and East End. Thanks for the information.
