Wouldn't be surprised if the Wolfpack moved down to Bridgeport if the Sound Tigers were to leave for LI - closer to NYC being the Rangers affiliate.
Webster Bank is a great concert venue.

A shame to. Conneticut has two big cities that go back and forth sucking out various revenues for those cities. Then has a few cities garner to younger crowds like Norwalk, Stamford, West Hartford, and New Haven. Then minor cities like Meriden, Danbury, New Britain, and New London.

Hartford has 3 to 4 colleges, football stadium, music arena, shopping center, theater, baseball stadium, convention center, huge hospital system, the Capital/Goverment offices, hockey/football/baseball/basketball, Brewery, and the Arena. Soon to have a possible casino and Hard Rock Hotel.

Bridgeport has a better arena, possibly empty baseball stadium, possibly leaving baseball/hockey team, 3 to 4 colleges, 2 hospitals, a brewery, and developing shopping center.

perhaps but still a Ct net loss of a franchise if Sound Tigers go, and 2 with Bluefish

This was a foolish development from day 1; Bluefish have been in trouble several years, and Sound Tigers attendence is hardly stellar. The Patriots (same league as Bluefish) right by me are rock solid financially-just signing GM to an 8 year extension, and drawing thousands more per game than Bridgeport.

I doubt that the Sound Tigers will leave any time soon. Barclay Center (where the Islanders play is a disaster for the franchise since the owner and fans aren't happy with it being in Brooklyn. Once the Nassau County Memorial Coliseum is fully renovated then it'll be likely that they'll move back. The Sound Tigers are affiliated with the Islanders and I believe (though I could wrong) that the Islanders barely pay anything to play at the Webster Bank Arena.

The Islanders have held preseason games in Bridgeport before. It's was a pretty packed house. Though NHL in Bridgeport is not even close to reality. The league requires the arena to hold 15,000+ to be NHL ready and the Webster Bank Arena only holds 10,000. The XL Center is the only arena in the state that has potential.

and usually they require 12k season ticket holders to place non refundable deposits before granting final authorization for a team.

Definitely would need to revamp the arena, but be well worth it. Think Nasaau after renovations will hold just as much as the Barclay does close to 15,000 for an NHL game. The XL Center can hold 15K for a game.

Revamping the Webster Bank Arena isn't necessary because not only was it only built just over 10 years ago but it's also an arena only built for minor league teams. The XL Center once held a major league team, the Hartford Whalers, however it's one of the oldest running facilities in the nation as it was built back in the 70's. It's very important to renovate the current arena because if we don't then we'll lose to competition from surrounding cities. The only problem is that the state doesn't have the money to do that.
