I think the future taxes of legalized marijuana and sports betting will be greater than tolls. Sports betting is going to spread very quickly in states that already have successful casinos and OTB locations. The ability to bet from a cell phone is a game changer in the industry.
The future Governor should capitalize on the future growth industries in the area. Legalized marijuana in Massachusetts is going to be huge. New Jersey has sports betting now, that is going to spread all over the country especially in the Northeast.
Tolls are not a popular thing because it will affect everybody that drives a car in the state.
Taxing weed and gambling goes after a smaller segment of consumers.

Huge boost for Oz Griebel - Endorsed by the Hartford Courant.

Editorial: The Courant Endorses Oz Griebel For Governor - Hartford Courant

If he and Monte Frank can pull this off it would be one of the greatest political surprises to happen in CT. I think he's taking votes away from both candidates but I think Ned's feeling it a bit more.

There is gossip going around that UTC will move its headquarters if Ned Lamont is elected Governor. It is based on a comment made by a member of the Board of Directors at a dinner for the conservative think tank, the Hoover Institution. The Director and UTC refused to comment on this. Whether this was just a random comment or a real threat remains to be seen, Jay

So much for the claim that Malloy likes to spend money. He actually cut spending since he took office and Rowland and Rell increased spending significantly during their terms. Makes you wonder if the Republicans are truthful when they say they promote less government spending. JAy

UTC moving its HQ would really put the nail in CT's coffin. It's perhaps the worst thing that could happen.

Well after endorsing Malloy in the past two elections, and we have seen where his popularity is, they don't have that much of a choice. They are too far to the left for a Republican , so this is their only way out.

Would have been nice if they didn't wait till the 11th hour to promote this. I still don't think he has an honest chance of winning. When do they start posting poll numbers tomorrow?

Yet the state is still running a deficit, even after two tax increases. How can that be, when Malloy cut spending? From the link:

"The key is that we’re talking about regular government agency spending. To get there, we take out what I call the Big Five: Medicaid, bond debt, pension payments, employee and retiree health care and aid to cities and towns.

Those Big Five costs have driven a hefty increase, of course. In all, under Malloy those costs have ballooned by 40 percent, from $8.7 billion to $12.2 billion, nearly two-thirds of the budget."

In other words, cherry pick the data.

But many of those are outside of Mallloy's control. Should he be blamed for the pension agreements and employee benefits made by prior Governors? What about Medicaid? He can control bond debt and aid to cities and towns but the others no. That said I don't think he has done well controlling debt. I am not sure about town aid but I would guess it is down or even. I like their reasoning on Stefanowski. At this point I think their the third news organization in CT he has refused to talk to or provide any details of his plan. It's looking more and more like he doesn't have one. Even Kevin Rennie ( a former GOP lawmaker turned pundit) seems highly annoyed that he has no plan. In fact he says it's worse then that in that Stefanowski doesn't seem versed in the plan he payed Laffer 75K to write.
Really I don't care if the GOP are in power in CT but putting someone who has no desire to even learn how government works into power seems incredibly short sighted.
