Couple maps because it's so interesting!! This isn't the typical cold we see in September.

10,000' temps. Below freezing over our heads. Cold Airmass in place!

5000' temps. Not below freezing over CT but 30s is cold for this level during the day or at night.

Northwest flow aloft of course

Clear Skies and its in the 50s and 60s at the surface. Well below normal for this time of year

Balloon launch over Long Island this morning showed it was 0.2°C (32°F) at 850mb. Normal is 51°. Top 12 coldest temp at this level for month of September.
Only 1 other time was colder before Sept 20th (1959)
So this is impressive airmass for us this time of year!

Here's something interesting. Bridgeport, CT was 60° at lunchtime today (12pm).

The last time it was that cold at 12pm before September 20th was in 2014. Lets keep getting these air masses! Will make for a special winter!

Had to grab the map. Some 30s out there already at 10pm. Nuts. We're about 10-15 below normal for the hour.

Keep getting these air masses now? NO PLEASE!!
Let's save it for winter or we'll somehow end up with snow in November and April but not in between again. Lol I always want early snow but the curse has been unbreakable with those events

Temperature has been stuck at 48°F for the past two hours. Thinking we'll bottom out at around 43-44°F with the radiational cooling. Our maritime influence is going to hurt hs

Wow. Only 45°F here. Not entirely sure why I'm reading warmer than you Cam. Maybe it was still enough that the cold air sunk to the lower elevations?
