Thanks but another subsription wall. Mr Gompers will say don't leave a kid in the car and the fervent anti-victim blaming crusaders will jump all over it. I don't know the blame game, and no one has a right to steal anything, but damn if that was me I'd could never forgive myself, hard to live with that.

They know exactly what they’re doing. Don’t underestimate their intelligence.

And would you look at this:

The police department had contacted the Juvenile Court for a “Take into Custody Order,” in order to transfer the 16-year-old to a juvenile detention facility Tuesday night. It was approved and the 16-year-old was turned over to the Juvenile Court in Hartford after a court-issued “Order to Detain”.

Wasn’t a poster a few pages back demanding everyone believe all juvenile suspects were able to be dropped off at a detention facility? Thankfully, since the crime was during the day, the courts were able to be petitioned for an order to detain. Had this happened at 2 am, the juvenile would be released to his parents within six hours.

To be fair, this story was well covered in the local TV news (as is the increase in juvenile crime in the state). I think it may have more to do with the Courant's decline than anything else.

How does this being on the 4th page mean the Courant is declining?

There shouldn’t be one. I took the article from their website, not a subscription site. Try this link. It’s taken from the same site but maybe I made a mistake the first time. Jay

Bingo, as always one of our most informed posters!

Of course they know what they are doing. Most 12 to 18 year olds are fully aware of the wrong they are doing. Heck most 10 to 12 year olds do as well, but we’ve set 18 as the age of adulthood so we have to live with that whether we like it or not. Jay

Not “we”, but the politicians set the age to 18. They can certainly change the age to at least 16, just like they’re talking about pushing the voting age to 16. The hypocrisy. One the one hand they’re saying individuals are old enough at 16 to make a make decisions about our future leaders but not not old enough at 16 to know right or wrong. Which one is it?

Frontal lobes aren't fully developed until the early twenties so youths will still make questionable and ill-informed decisions despite knowing right from wrong. I know I made some doozies, you did, others here as well. Taking it another level to crime though comes from a pre-disposed condition most likely due to a lack of a proper home life. No guidance. Once Dad's 10 minutes was up, that was it, he left the car running, peeled out, see ya.

No the assumption is that police can not get a hold of judges during non business hours. No one here believes that, judges can be contacted 24 hours a day.

This is also another teen perp that got locked up, despite all the complaining here insisting that teens can't be locked up.

You guys need to get your stories straight.
