Honest to God, anyone who votes Democrat is directly contributing to the problem of rising crime. Throw all them out in 2022.

Not that the republicans are great by any stretch (they aren't) but the dems are the absolute worst
That is infuriating but this was before the Glastonbury incident. I know my State Rep and a number of colleagues were pushing for it. I again STRONGLY encourage everyone to write their Legislators and the Governor. If enough people do, they will have no choice but to address it. Jay

100% true. Lowell was no longer a Republican when he was governor. He had left the party.

BUT he still identified with them. He was as close to being a Republican as you can get without technically being one. In interviews he even said that. What the Republicans loved was that he got them the income tax without it being tied directly to either party. He was the “sacrificial lamb” for both parties. Jay

That’s not quite true either. Governors can draft laws but they can’t introduce them into the House or Senate. That must be done by a Representative or Senator. Most recently Lamont drafted the marijuana bill back at the beginning of the year and circulated it to legislators for support and sponsor. He found both.

As I said, the Governor has great power in their use of the veto. They can send a strong message in doing that. The other thing that a Governor has is the power of the media. What a Governor says is almost certainly going to be covered in the press. That can certainly make a difference if used properly. Jay

To be transparent here, anyone can draft a law. That includes anyone posting in this thread.

According to WFSB this morning lawmakers will be meeting this week to discuss this issue. That’s great but a Glastonbury man has started an online petition to send to them. This sends them a strong message that can’t be ignored. Please consider signing it and passing it along to friends. Jay

Lamont drafted this bill in 2018.

I recall him praising the bill once it was passed, like it was such a great thing for CT. I remember thinking, what a joke, anyone with a few brain cells knew what would happen, that crime would increase as a result.

Gov. Malloy Introduces Juvenile Justice Reform Legislation
Legislative Proposal Raises the Age of Juvenile Justice Jurisdiction; Expands Opportunity for Youthful Offenders[/b]

“Over the last several years, Connecticut has been reimagining its criminal justice system and focusing on second chances rather than permanent punishment and stigma. By implementing smart criminal justice policy, the state has managed to drastically reduce its prison population, while simultaneously reducing recidivism and violent crime. The juvenile justice legislation that the Governor is proposing would continue this trend.”

https://portal.ct.gov/Malloy-Archive...rm-Legislation

That’s what tax payers get for “reimagining” criminal justice system and for drastically reduced prison population.

As others have already stated, individuals really need to contact their representatives to let them know this lawlessness cannot continue. Protecting it’s citizens should be the state’s first obligation. After all, if one doesn’t feel safe in their home or going for a walk/run in their neighborhood, nothing else matters.

That's one hell of a joyhride. If this isn't the straw that breaks the camel's back, I don't know what is.
Those in charge up in Hartord need to get their act together. Someone needs to get fired.
I can't believe I'm about to say this but I'm embarassed for CT. If this persists I have no problem trading in LI Sound for Biscayne Bay. Upgrade to a SeaVee 34 triple Verados too. No problem at all.

Part of the issue is outlined in this latest WFSB article:

“The driver, only identified as a juvenile, was found with a loaded firearm and a large capacity magazine. The driver was taken to a juvenile detention facility and is being charged with first-degree larceny, carrying a pistol without a permit, and possession of a large capacity magazine.”

The Connecticut state attorney’s office declined to charge the juvenile with unlawful discharge of a firearm and attempted murder for shooting at the homeowner. With the above charges, which he’ll surely beat, the juvenile will be processed and immediately released into the custody of a “caregiver”, and when they’re 18, record wiped clean if even convicted.
