We have a person who died because two criminals were walking the streets when at least one of them should have already been in jail.

Plus we have the knuckleheads that were chasing the car even after they were told by the police not to chase. Because the teen perps stole a wallet.

So now we have a person who died over 2 material objects - a car and a wallet - both of which could easily be replaced.

And multiple others have been killed thanks to these little pricks stealing cars then mowing people over. This is unacceptable. How much more of this are we supposed to take before something is done about this?

And the crazy thing is if someone simply defends themselves with lethal force against one of these animals there will probably be riots. Oh how the pendulum has swung so far the other way.

My brother in Newington had his car stolen from his driveway a couple years ago. I don't know if he locked his car door or not.

Only if the kid came from a lower socio-economic background. That is who liberals make endless excuses for.

If we went back to caging criminals for years when they fail to obey laws, society will be safer. That is what those cages are for-society's animals who have no respect for the law.

Back to the topic: there are real programs that work, such as Project Longevity. It's great to see you comment on multiple boards about how horrible things are, but the good news is that we are making progress and crime is no where near where it was in the 90s. New Haven is lovely and we love the commentary from the suburbs - keep it coming.
Programs like Project Longevity are great but they obviously are NOT the only answer. That’s the problem, it’s been one or the other (stricter laws). If both of these approaches were put together, you’d likely see long term sustainable results. It’s really sad that lawmakers don’t see that. Jay

Agreed. Can't stand the victim blaming. And while it's ultimately the juveniles who should be held responsible, I always ask where are the parents?! It starts at home.

So my question to everyone is, has anybody written their State Representative, State Senator or the Governor? It’s easy to b**** but rarely do those that do actually follow through with actions. I once again say write your elected officials and let them know your opinion. It DOES make a difference. Jay

There won't be any riots, but if you or someone else is willing to shoot and potentially kill someone over a material object that is sad.

No we have a dead person because someone didn't lock their car and/or left the keys inside it making it easy to steal.

If the car was never stolen the man from New Britain never would have been killed.

Also, don't forget about the idiots that were chasing the perps over a stolen wallet. They are to blame too.
