"Results suggest that the garden programs provided opportunities for constructive activities, contributions to the community, relationship and interpersonal skill development, informal social control, exploring cognitive and behavioral competence, and improved nutrition."

Nutrition is one of a myriad of predicate factors for delinquency. We all know the others too well-- broken families, poverty, chemical dependency, etc.

Not defending it but haven't teen fights taken place at malls since they've been around? I feel like this isn't anything new. Minus the pepper spray part I guess.

Fortunately it's that time of year when the kids will be going back to school and will soon be busy with their studies and extracurriculars, so we should be seeing a decrease in juvenile crime, at least the next few months.

Just letting off some steam from a hectic first week back at school and football practice. Tensions are up.
Now having said that, given that CT is going prog at a more frenetic breakneck pace, the hope is that situations like these and others involving juvenile crime will remain the worst of it for the state when it comes to overall crime. Does it get worse? That's the big question.

The kids who do this stuff aren’t worried about their “studies”. We’re lucky if they go to school. Many of these youths have no guidance at home and the result is zero participation at school.

The problem will not solve itself. A fact which sails over liberal's heads.

Their "schooling" is likely coming from criminals their friends and families know.
