Oh look, another Saturday with rain on the way. Hmmm, starting to get suspicious.

Looks the rain showers have pushed offshore, so much of the East Coast should see at least partly sunny skies today/mix clouds and sun with temps 55 - 60 F. The precip in the midwest (weak cold front) should weaken as it passes over the Tri-State area tonight, with some light showers it looks like:

According to the NWS forecast - this should set up the local area for a nice weekend, and an extended period of dry weather/sunny skies and mild temperatures well into next week:

Add another day.... Day #42 with precip.

Seattle still has 63

Just gonna have to be patient if your looking for true mild temps.(70s)

We’re stuck in this same cycle of every few days fronts cutting off any real spring warmth.

We need that Jet stream to lift north of us and stay there!

Could the cloudy nights end up creating one of the longer growing seasons (freeze -free periods) in 60 years across northern Connecticut?

The normal last date of freeze is around April 7th at NWS Bridgeport, and this year the last freeze was on March 27th. However normally by early April the threat of freeze is over across the coastal areas of Connecticut/Long Island/NYC area, so this is just a little early. The more frequent cloudy nights have helped keep coastal Connecticut from even having any many frosty nights this April, only two nights made it to 36 - 37 F (I would guess Central park is close to the same). Here east of New Haven we have not had any frost this April :

The much bigger anomaly seems to be that NWS Bradley (far northern Connecticut) has not has a freeze sice April 8th. With the dry weather expected from Sunday well into next week, there does appear to be some cooler nights (mid/upper 30's F) due to clear skies and better radiational cooling. IF Bradley makes it past Sun, Mon, Tue night - (there really looks to be no colder than normal temp anywhere in sight after that)... Bradley will BEAT the 1993 record and might have the earliest last freeze in 70 years.

This could be a year where northern Connecticut might end up with 200 freeze - free days (about the same as places northern Virginia:

Frustrating but hey... we know we're not out of the woods yet until June. lol

Big push of cold air likely next week. Early Thursday Morning on the 25th. 20s across CT! Even if this is off by a few degrees figure to protect those sensitive plants that night

This is how close NWS Bradley will come Monday night:

Actually, it looks like Tuesday night will be too warm, mid 40's F are expected for lows even up in northern CT. Best chance for 32 F now looks like Monday night.

Thursday morning still could be cold (and Bradley might break it's streak?)...but the models are all over the place, some show it struggling to get below low 40's F in northern Connecticut:

Looking out to the final days of the month into May...yesterday's CDC run seems to have cut the below normal temps anywhere in the eastern USA:

5 Pm obs...

After the passing showers this morning looks like that April sun was still able to boost all NWS stations to fairly warm temps, most places reporting 60 's F.
