Looks like NWS was accurate with the lows early this morning. No freeze on the coast/coastal plain it looks like . Bridgeport fell to only 40 F...New Haven 39. If this was the lowest temp for Bridgeport until November, looks like they clinched the number 4th spot for earliest last freeze in 76 years:

They are close, but I think they are more centered in the state, rather than in far interior southern CT. Also, they have only been recording data since 1999 I think.

I fail to see how this can be meaningful until the latest last freeze date is within the 7-day extended forecast window, where there is some reasonable certainty that it's not going to happen.

The average date of the last freeze is meaningful...it shows the prospective garden/landscaper when "on average" they are safe from freeze. Numerically, that number goes down/up when you get near the extremes in the data.

This year Bridgeport started their growing season the 4th earliest in 76 years. I would think it would be obvious why that is noteworthy.

^It may be noteworthy if it were true. But this conclusion is totally premature. You should look up the Top 10 "latest" last freeze dates for BDR. How can you state that we're out of the woods on another freeze? Heck, you were saying this about Hartford on Monday, and now we have another freeze forecast for tomorrow (Friday).

Ugh... Just so annoying now

Told you... Heat to AC. We don't have long stretch of just warm spring temps (60-75). Hate it!

It could literally hit freezing tonight. Why is this being posted prematurely?

Crazy difference from Fairfield County.

Some red buds but mostly looking bare.

Saw this storm over Long Island as I was driving down I-95. You can see the downpour reaching the surface!
Incredible difference in foliage even from the New Haven area! Also, it’s because NL County is overwhelmingly oak trees, which take forever to leaf out (and when they do they have very small buds at first)
