Reminder if you have a weather station... Don't put it near AC units unless you want to make the warming really scary.

Meanwhile we can put them near runways because its over 100 feet away..

What will really be interesting about the coming mini-heat wave Monday - is that not only do many NWS stations in the Tri-State area have a shot at seeing their highest temp this April (not sure about Central Park ?)...but this is likely the first time since the warm season has started that DEW POINTS will be near 60 F.

As dew points cross 60 F and head toward 70 F the air feels tropical and wet. The amazing thing is that their will be a sharp line, look at some of the places up in northern NY and New Hampshire/Maine...dew points struggle to reach 40 F. I'm sure there are people who will wish they were up in Maine this Monday.

Frustrating place to live. Where Clouds linger and Spring lags.

I know better days are ahead and the sun will eventually come out but Southern New England is the Chilly capital of the region. It's warmer in Vermont

A heatwave in New England refers to 3 consecutive days > 90 F. Not sure how 3-4 days in the 70s this upcoming week would even remotely qualify or be notable. Especially when in past Aprils we've actually had days >90 F.

Southwest flow has commenced ...most reporting stations now well into the 60's under sunny skies it looks like. Hard to complain about this type of nice weather

That's true...3 days of consecutive days in the 90's F = heat wave.

I did not mean it in the technical term...only in the sensible weather way. We might see the hottest temps we have seen so far this year on Monday. I used the word "mini' because it will only last 1 day. However, some of the NWS stations might get a bit higher than the 70's F on Monday. We'll have to wait and see.

In other "weather news"...several reporting stations made it to 70 F or higher today. Was not really expecting that? Early this morning was overcast, and Bradley had showers until sun rise:

Backdoor cold fronts and sea breeezes are our enemies in Spring but should be an awesome day! I'm not sure we'll hit 80s today though. Maybe inland will touch it for 30 minutes?

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service New York NY
548 AM EDT Mon Apr 29 2024

Today will be one of the warmest days of the year so far, with highs
in the low to mid 80s for most. Bit of a tricky temperature forecast
with the timing of the front, sea breezes and any clouds this
morning being huge factors. The thinking is that skies will be
mostly sunny this morning and temps will rise quickly with decent
mixing in a northwest flow. Once the sea breezes kick in,
temperatures will drop as always this time of the year. Long Island,
coastal CT and portions of NYC and northeast NJ will likely see
their highs in the early afternoon.

This shows how often in the last 10 years Bradley got into the 80's F in April, not quite as often as I thought:
