So the pregnant woman who was mauled to death in San Francisco was poor white trash? Strange as the houses in the area are well over a million dollars. Not exactly the trailer park.

And didn't you just contradict yourself with lab/retriever comment.

Gee, how did others and I know it was going to be a pit bull?

Pit bulls were raised and used for the pit in Europe for a thousand years. It is in their genes. Yes, an owner can have a pit and never have a problem. It is like having a stick of dynamite in your pocket with a blasting cap in the stick and feeling confident that static electricity or a stray radio signal will not set it off. You have been lucky so far. Owning a pit is like playing Russian roulette. Do you feel lucky?

Better not to take the chance.

I've said it before, I'll say it again... I'd rather live next door to a "bad" owner of poodle than a "bad" owner of a pit bull!

My term for that is "going min-pin" as in "Watch out or she'll go min-pin on you!" If she were 80 pounds of solid muscle I probably wouldn't want her. Then again, she doesn't seem to do it except for self preservation. I doubt it's in her nature to actually kill. She loves to chase but if the cat stops running she suddenly finds something really interesting in a different direction.

And I'm sure MANY people have smoked their entire life and not got lung cancer. Doesn't mean smoking doesn't increase risk of lung cancer. A pit bull and other large dangerous breeds is more likely to attack/maim. The statistics on attacks prove this just the way it's proven cigs cause increase risk of lung cancer.

My fat little minpin decided to try to take on a roaming lab that came into our side yard. He promptly got stuck in the gate. I was afraid I was going to end up on the news calling the FD to get him out.

The lab just looked at him like "Bummer, Dude ."

I've had good dogs and bad dogs. They were all raised the same way. I agree with others that blame bad breeding for temperament.

The pit is a victim of its own popularity, and irresponsible breeding. The difference between my ill-tempered minpin, Zorro, and a pit is that if necessary, Zorro could Have been drop kicked across a room. An ill- tempered pit , rottie, or chow? Not so much.

A pit broke into my nephew's yard and viciously attacked his small dog while his young son watched, terrified. It was horrific and the child may never be the same again. Their dog had his muzzle torn off and one ear, the other ear is hanging. We wanted to adopt another small dog and all the shelters are full of pits, people on fb attacked me for wanting to buy a puppy, they said I should adopt an unwanted shelter dog, I retorted; "How come the shelters are chock full of pits if they are so loving and adorable and wonderful and the responsible pet owners have all been neutering or spaying their dogs the past 30 years, back in the day your local shelter would have 10-30 dogs on hand of ALL breed types, you COULD go down there and choose out a gentle loving NON PITBULL back then. Pit bulls are not loving and adorable and they should be outlawed.
