Right.

Cause the police got criticized for being too "militaristic" and then you get this result.

Also in Ferguson they did NOT have a swarm of soldiers/police crawling through streets in armored cars/humvees until lit was way too late.

Ferguson obviously was a failure so I was not referring to Baltimore being like Ferguson. Cause Ferguson was a total failure. They only did martial law after it got REALLY bad.

I was saying they need to shut the crap down BEFORE anything happens.

Soak every street with anti riot armored cars, Humvees, soldiers, police, riot gear, tear gas, rubber bullets, etc.

Have mobile protection squads escorting every firetruck/EMT/ambulance.

Extra large police/guardsment presence at shopping malls/store fronts. Use armored vehicles to block off paths into store parking lots/entry ways

Extra protection for gas stations. Surround perimeter with heavy armor cars and heavily armed guardsmen and policemen

Have several elite SWAT groups roaming the city in "on-call" routes in heavily armored SWAT cars with full weapons-hot ready mode to respond to any serious situation at the drop of a hat.

The police are always in a no-win situation. So what? This doesn't mean they should just lay back and let our cities burn. We pay this department to protect us from the scum that is roaming the Baltimore streets tonight.

The actions of the mayor and the governor are inexcusable. I've grown tired of hearing them defend their actions. All they needed to do was drive down the streets with bullhorns, warning the rioters that a curfew was going into effect in one hour. Why do the leaders give them another night and day to burn and loot?

Considering they said they knew this would going to happen. I put the blame squarely on the Mayor for her inability to let the police actually do something. It is just plain messed up when you see police watching the rioters commit crime right in front of them and do nothing

Exactly.

It's like they've lived under a rock for the past year. Maybe they didn't watch TV during Summer of 2014?

Seriously the next Mayor/Governor of Race Riot City, USA needs to learn from the absolute FAILURE of Ferguson and now Baltimore.

All the police have to do is learn how to arrest people, without injuring or killing them. But apparently thats asking too much, so we are in an endless cycle of police violence, followed by civil unrest. This country is hopeless. We can no longer effect even the smallest amount of change.

Nothing is going to change. This has been going on for 25 years now, and things seem to only be getting worse.
What world do you live in? Once someone starts fighting back it's really hard to arrest them without the possibility of hurting them.

Maybe you should volunteer to demonstrate how to arrest a man that weighs 200lbs who is wildly swinging at you or trying to grab your gun. I'm sure you could do it without any possibility of you being hurt or hurting the suspect.

You probably also think the cops are all able to quickdraw and shoot a gun out of criminal's hands or wing them in the leg, but they would much rather just shoot to kill in center mass from 40 feet out because the want to. In the heat of the moment where you fear for your safety it's really hard to do, nearly impossible. At a target range I can hit a target at 15 to 30 feet if I take my time. Make that a moving target on a quick draw and I'd be lucky to hit anything at all.

It's easy to sit behind a keyboard and say how it should be done when you have no idea. It's like hearing someone say they know what war is like but have never actually been in battle. I'll put good money on a bet you can't do it and if you try you will be hurt or killed. Too many people think because it's on TV that it is all real and can be done. They probably watch action movies where the hero manages to take out 3 people with one bullet and makes a 20 round mag last for 2 minutes in a firefight.

With all that's happening I have no doubt there are some bad cops out there. But looting from your innocent neighbors and destroying your community doesn't help the situation so I can't see how you can justify it.
I'm sure if they came to your place and firebombed your car and house and stole your posessions you would say it's all fine even though you had nothing to do with the black men killed by the police. Heck even if it was a threat to your family you'd never call the police because you'd put the looters' safety over your own family's.

Whats the point of these riots anyways? For a few bags of bounty paper, potato chips, etc. I thought welfare already paid for all of this stuff.

Still doesn't change the outcome and makes matters worse and only divides the country even more.

Some Blacks cheering, some blacks embarrassed, some blacks angry, and all of the non-blacks watching this and reinforcing their personal opinions about blacks in this society.

Unfortunately that is the point for some.

Death of a black man is an excuse to get some potato chips and gatorade and some shoes and clothes for free.

I doubt you'll see any breaking into libraries and frantically starting to read and educate themselves out of their poverty or injustice.

These people are rioting, looting, burning and beating people because they don't like being treated like criminals.

Anyone see the irony in that ?

This was a complete disappointment and a disgrace. I felt they could have done far better than this. Peaceful protest with the people united would have been far more effective in my opinion. Instead of using social media to incite violence and get out in the streets looting, they could have done this far differently.
