I don't include West 7th/Cultural district as part of downtown FW, but I don't include Greenville or Knox-Henderson as downtown Dallas either.

I don't think the neighborhoods around downtown Dallas are falling, but I think a lot of the downtown proper area outside of the Main Street district and Arts District are still somehow getting worse. West End has been falling apart for years, yet I'm still somehow surprised every time I visit that it has gotten worse. This area has possibly the most potential inside the downtown loop, yet it can't attract people and good tenants???

I personally think that Downtown Fort Worth is the one missing something...like the sweet, rancid smell of urine, which is ever heightened, on these warmer days of the year.

Woodall Rodgers Deck Park construction linking Downtown Dallas to Uptown. In the background is the construction of the Santiago Calatrava-designed Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge over the Trinity River and the Perot Museum of Natural History (designed by Pritzker Prize Laureate Thom Mayne) straddling Victory Park and The West End. Photo from Angela Hunt, Dallas City Council District 14 - taken from the new Museum Tower condominium building (now at about 20 stories, 42 stories total).

Parts of downtown Dallas are nice. But there's always homeless people, drunks and drug addicts lurking around....

The Deck park and the museum tower are going to be great additions to downtown. I think the bridge is nice looking up close, but was a complete waste of money that could have gone towards something useful.

San Francisco wins in that category. Also some of the 'civilized' folks have worse manners than the homeless.
