Dallas is a retail mecca. It is the retail mecca of the south in fact. And when they built all those skyscrapers downtown, they never came to fill them up. In any average city, it would be incredible enough just to have a Knox Street retail district. In Dallas, there is that and Henderson Avenue too. Knox Street is the part of the corridor responsible for revitalizing that part of town by attracting lots of furniture and home furnishing stores. Question is, will Henderson Avenue end up becoming the tail that wags the Knox Street head. Women's fashion has always powered the retail scene and lots of those kinds of specialized boutiques are now locating to Henderson Avenue.

We may never agree about anything again but you are right.

Because DFW has to main cities, it would be awesome if DFW were a little closer to Dallas (maybe where Love is currently), and Southwest used Meacham. This would make it easier for folks on the FW side of the metro to access an airport.

From downtown Fort Worth, DFW airport is about 25mi, and Love field is 35mi. Meacham would only be about 6mi.

According to google maps it's roughly half again as far from downtown to ORD as Midway (16.2 v. 11) AND you more or less have to take The Kennedy to ORD. It's a total disaster much of the time.

Why does DFW get bashed? Beautiful women / Monumental shopping centers/ Neiman Marcus / Most diverse economy in the world / Lots of billionaires / Ground zero for the Protestant religion /

What answer were you expecting to hear?

Laughable. If people saw what los Angeles looked like before creation of aquaducts, no one would have moved there. Now , no water and wildfires monthly.

NYC beauty! ? Go to Queens , Staten Island and the Bronx. Chicago is flat as a pool table and cold. Then there is the gunfire and taxes. Philadelphia, hell, even those who live are famous for griping. So PLEASE spare me how great those places are compared to DFW when most have lost population.

L.A. and NYC were never as liberal as people think and Texas in the big metro never as conservative. LAPD and NYPD have paid out a lot more in settlements than DFW POLICE departments due to abuse.

It kind of is that, and has been for some time. It's not easy to find a paucity of that in a metro of 7 million people.

I moved here from California 15 years ago thinking the same thing. Over the years living here, I have come to realize it's the Californians who think the world revolves around them.
