These 50 state pols (whether it is Reuters/Ipsos, Google Surveys, Morning Consult) have come up with some really strange results. The methodology seems to be really lacking, as it seems to be simply a breakout of the larger national poll, rather than a separate and weighted poll for each state.
Oh - we're back to "polls matter" now, are we? I thought they didn't mean anything because they're all rigged for Hillary. Which is it this week, Trumpsters? It's so hard to keep track!
Forget the +5 advantage - here's the take away from this poll:
- 46% of Trump supporters very enthusiastic about his candidacy
- 33% of Clinton supporters very enthusiastic about her candidacy
- 60%+ Trump supporters are following the election closely and 93% are certain to vote
- 45% of Clinton supporters are following the election closely and 80% are certain to vote
Perhaps there's something to the idea that Trump supporters are more fired up...hence the huge turnouts at rallies. It may be possible that more people show up to vote for someone they like (Trump supporters) rather than showing up to cast a vote against someone they don't like (dems voting against Trump).
Trump seems to have both sides covered because his supporters are more enthusiastic AND they dislike Hillary just as much as Hillary supporters dislike Trump.
You are assuming that Clinton voters are not fired up? We're not lunatics waving dicks in the streets and being obnoxious on political forums if that's what you thing "enthusiasm" is.
We've been here before. We'll do it again. We will crush Trump. We will not be silent against hate.
I'm not assuming. Look at the numbers.
Trump +13 on supporters enthusiastic for candidacy
Trump +15 on supporters following the election closely
Trump +13 on supporters certain to vote
"You're assuming Clinton supporters aren't fired up...we are silently enthusiastic" is the talking point used to dismiss this massive crowds at Trump rallies. However, in this case we have numbers on enthusiasm and perhaps the numbers indicate that drawing huge crowds isn't meaningless. This poll shows more enthusiasm among Trump supporters and huge rallies could also be an example of enthusiasm. It's logical to conclude that enthusiasm results in better voter turnout.
