Our country has never, and was never intended to be a "Democracy", so there's no need to respect the "fundamental principles" of something that isn't, and never was. We live in a republic, a federation of states united under one banner but independent unto themselves. Public schools are really doing this country a big disservice by teaching people this big democracy lie.
