I want to enjoy life. Without good health, I am unable to enjoy anything else.

Just imagine how having the flu last year right before a big trip nearly ruined it for me. Now just imagine being that weak and unhealthy for the majority of my life.

I simply feel better the more active I am, and feeling good is better than feeling lousy!

I have 2 kids to keep up with!

Exercise is a mood lifter!

Yes, I do. I work in a federal bldg. and it is truly sad, the obesity, people waddling around and using walkers. Young people in their 30s.

I workout and stay fit so I can go on hikes with my two daughters and I am able to keep up with them instead of slowing them down.
I keep fit because it makes me feel better about myself and it keeps my hormones in check.
I keep fit to try and help me live a long life so I can make it to my golden years and see my kids have kids and watch those grandkids grow up and also to be able to grow old with my husband.

a significant part of his O.P. question was: WHY do you Lead a healthy lifestyle or what motivates you?
Simple.
The motivation is my *passion* as I just stated in this #1 post, in the What makes someone athletic? discussion.
The right kind of passion, this decided INternal drive... to succeed in making your dreams come true, & (no matter what, Not giving up nor giving in), but continue with all the passion you have to make you dreams come true. This internal strength, gusto, fierce determination, & persistance will keep you focused, & riveted, & moving FORward to your goal. Passionate fun... is everything! Carpe Diem. Seize the day.

I worked at a grocery store in high school. There's nothing more depressing than helping an obese person lift huge cases of soda out of their cart because they can't bend over to grab it.

Since those years I've started running, eating healthy ect. Some of the stuff I saw while working there frankly scared me into fitness.

I'm turning 65 next month. I've never exercised much and have slowly gotten heavier over the years. At 6' I was tipping 222 lbs and decided I was heading in a bad direction. On Superbowl Sunday I made a commitment. Since then I have radically changed mt diet, quit caffeine, quit Starbucks and exercise every day. So far I am down 23 lbs at 199 heading for 175 which was my weight in college (when dinosaurs roamed the earth). My motivation? I just decided that I didn't want to be that old fat guy. Now that my jeans are hanging off me and I'm discovering belt notches I never knew existed, I am more motivated than ever to continue since I have proven to myself that I CAN DO IT.

I'm just wanting to get back into it again to be healthy and fit into smaller, vintage clothes again. I know I shouldn't knock another's motivation, but I just don't understand all the obsession with hardcore weightlifting and trying to get a cop/soldiers body. Then again, I'm the type of person who'd rather have the stamina to run away from the fight than become part of it.
