No, please do laugh. I can, now that the ice is gone. As I was trying to get up the stairs, all I could think was if any neighbors were watching they got a good laugh! You're right though, don't have those problems in the sand!

Oh yeah, the day after the Valentine's Day storm I came home to about 2 inch thickness of ice on the steps leading up to my door. Yeah that was fun. Holding onto the railing sliding the whole way up because there wasn't even any snow for traction. Picture Joe Pesci in the first Home Alone after the stairs were watered down. That was me.
thats a funny image....I broke a rib once and all I did was stepped out of the car onto the driveway.

Come on down! We must have had a "front" go through because it got quite cool last night....it was something like 38 at our house early this morning -- we even had the heat on for a few minutes. Right now it is a gorgeous, sunshiny, 58 degrees!

Don't forget the added expense of rusty cars.....way more mechanical work because of the rust.....because of HUGE potholes EVERYWHERE you need to have regular front end allignments or else your tires wear unevenly, etc.

Winter wiper blades, bags of sand to keep in your trunk......we actually have a life saving bag in the back seat with aluminum blankets, etc in case you get stranded in a snowbank for hours.......(yes people do die). We have MANY accidents due to snowy weather.....(I'm a professional firefighter...I know).

Two nights ago I got the dreaded call.....my son's car slid on ice, and they were going to mercy flight him.....like I needed another reason to want to move out of NY.

My property taxes are TWICE the amount here then the taxes on my new house in Florida. Just heat, (not electricity) is over $500/month.....gas prices are 30 cents per gallon higher then Florida.....oranges here are 2 for a dollar....

The elderly get sick more....they fall more on ice, etc.

It is an interesting topic....one i've posted about before.....bottom line, yes, I do think it cost more to live in NY then in Florida......without even talking about quality of life.......

Frank D.

I think that too much energy on this board is given to a single poster who, when faced with facts, refuses to comment and begins yet another thread or keeps repeating inaccurate and/or unsubstantiated information ad nauseum. I include myself in that group.

His posts tend to paint the Florida Forum in an unrealistically negative light.

Here in Northern Michigan we've gotten 30+ inches in the past two weeks. The roads are icy not to mention you can't see where you are going because of all the snow. In the winter you don't really drive anywhere, its more of a controlled skid.
