Where does your frugality end? (best, price, money)

I refuse to spend winter huddled under a pile of blankets, or pretending that a ceiling fan's gonna cut it in sweltering heat in summer. The higher bills are well worth it, to me.

Gotta agree about heating the house in winter.

I grew up on a poor farm with a big old uninsulated farm house.

I vowed , when a kid, that someday I will live in a house that is warm regardless if it's -35 outside.

The money I spent to heat my house was the best use I ever put my money to.

Yep, 1860s farmhouse with original vintage windows, no thermal replacement windows, was my childhood home, up on a hill and unshielded from the wind. There's no way I'm going to ever in my life wake up again in a bedroom so cold that frost has formed on the insides of the windows.

Many things but the biggest is driving used paid for cars. Average new car is over $25k now - A lot of money to invest in an asset that quickly goes down in value. I'd rather have one car payment a year in the form of a repair then a car payment every month.

BRRRRRRRRRR!!! Did you have any heat in the house?

In our old house we did.

3 woodstoves........a kitchen cook stove, a kitchen wood heater, a kiving room wood heater.

You could hardly tell there was any heat when its 20-30 below zero with a strong wind.

frugal friend, when you say you buy organic, do you buy organic food that comes from other countries? or organic food from the US? Just wondering.....

Mine ends with a thermostat set for 64F in the winter and 79F in the summer.

My frugality ends at my girlfriend. Not that I just blow money away, but I will gladly go to a fine restaurant for a romantic dinner if it puts a smile on her face.
