I’ve been planting Florida native plants this year, but I’m not a plant snob, I like non-natives as long as they aren’t on the invasive species list. I was happy to find a Key West Morning Glory vine, the flowers are the size of a nickel. I can’t wait to see it grow larger and climb.
Natives blooming right now are:
Darrow’s Blueberry
Key West Morning Glory
Spider Wort
The shadblow serviceberry that I planted three weeks ago has started blooming. It will be interesting to see if we will be able to beat the birds to any of the berries later on.
Red buds have already bloomed. Hydrangeas aren't blooming yet, but are budding. Same with the roses - no blooms yet but I see some buds. A few strawberries have bloomed and are now making baby strawberries. Snapdragons are full of buds and have a few blooms. Purple flox just started blooming. I wish my Easter lilies would bloom but so far all I have is green leaves, but they are growing! Same with the irises, no buds yet but they're pushing up through the soil!
