I may not be able to report on this--I was advised that birds *really* like the berries (which is actually fine by me, I planted this tree to add as a food source for birds, bees, and butterflies and to be visually attractive to me), but there is a robin who is feasting on them even before they turn ripe! I might be able to snag one or two--there's a few ripening on a branch that won't hold his weight--but he's made quick work of them!

In my vegetable garden my lettuce has bolted already. My hydrangea is blooming nicely (lavender-blue) and is really popping next to the roses. I’ll have to post a pix tomorrow.

The red canna lily that we brought with us from Florida is starting to open up. It is from one that my mother had for years and years in Florida. I took a piece and started it in my yard in Florida several years ago. The neighbor who bought our house there ripped it all out while we were up in Tennessee closing on our new home. I dug around with my fingers and managed to find one small root piece and started it in a pot. It is doing great now in the front yard, so one of my mother's favorite flowers lives on!

My pontentilla bushes are just covered with yellow flowers right now. My yarrow is just about to burst into blooms, I can't wait!

The viburnum in the back yard has been in bloom for two weeks, and the hydrangea in the side yard is absolutely stunning this year. The lavender, daylilies, daisies, will be blooming soon. Everything is late.
