Houston and Atlanta are not soulless. Orlando might be, but to the extent of Dallas.
I agree with you there. Dallas is the most "empty" feeling city I've ever been to. I do disagree with you about Atlanta. Atlanta, to me at least, seemed very style-over-substance.

What "substance" is Atlanta missing?

I'd say Atlanta has more soul than most of the cities on the list, but it still struggles to find an identity for itself. There are some great historic and charming neighborhoods right outside of the core(Old 4th Ward, Little 5 Points, Inman Park, Virginia Highland come to mind) that have soul. It's most significant history has been the civil rights era and the prominent leaders that lived here during that time.

Very well said. I look forward to visiting Little 5 Points upon my next visit to the A. I definitely agree with you and the poll regarding Atlanta in comparison with the other cities

This tread seems trollish. Every city exudes its own soul, and this seems a pretty transparent attempt to invite attacks on a handful of cities.

As for this:

I wish the Houston posters would let up. There is not a city on CD that doesn't have haters. It does seem Houston has more than its share of folks who decide to take offense at even the hint of suggestion that the city is lacking in any manner, however. PLEASE - Houston is great city. Too many posts come across as petty or insecure. Try not to make so many threads into those that focus primarily on your city.

Well stated.

To be fair, it seems to be Texas posters as a whole, as I notice folks from Dallas can be just as defensive.

Just what I was thinking: PLEASE. I'm practically the only native Houstonian that's a regular in this forum, against a sea of people who constantly say negative things about it, and 75% of the stuff said about it is utter BS.

Most of everyone else who speaks up for the city isn't even from here, and half of them don't even live here.

Cool story bro.

My gf lives in Galveston a block away from the seawall & I'm in South Houston all the time where her family lives. You & everyone else knows I lived in Houston (NW & SW) for a total of over 5 years.

Its my home away from home.

I don't "know" anything, because I don't know you. I have heard you say you lived in Houston, and I do believe you. I was referring to people who live here NOW. My comment wasn't a dig at you.
