I think winter is awesome. That being said, it does get tiresome after mid February.

In Arizona, I can always travel if I need a break from the heat. Right now my area is bracing for a large winter storm, with up to 2 ft of snow. Apart from kids getting to stay home from school and have snowball fights, what good is it? In my job at a utility I HAVE to show up, so it's just more work and misery. If I never see snow again it'll be too soon.
I have to travel in this mess for work, alot of it is not even snow, some of it is ice and freezing rain! All it takes is usually a quarter of inch of ice for trees to start snapping and for power lines come down, plus this one has high winds

Seriously, people are dramatic.

One of some people's favorite pastimes on CD is complaining about cold weather and four seasons from their warm/hot and dry Southwestern lifelong home, while at the same time telling those of us who live in that cold weather four season climate why we should hate it, too, and how it definitively, unquestionably is when it's cold. No matter what you tell them, or how you correct them, they are always right and you, the one who experiences it and is used to it, are wrong. It's actually rather interesting once you get past the annoyance.
This is indeed a practice here on CD. I've observed it in only the most diehard homers - those who either believe their city is the best in every aspect or who feel that's some kind of "game" here on CD.

Though I am a Delaware native, I spent 26 years in a career in Houston. And I can tell you I enjoyed the city in spite of, not because of the weather. When I was able to retire, my DH and I planned to leave the long and oppressive summers for a true 4 season climate. I love winter. Why? Because when it gets dark early, it's nice to prepare hearty soups and casseroles and curl up with a book. Best of all, we get the occasional snowfall that turns everything into a winter wonderland.

Youd be sorely mistaken. The deep, dark, damp woods of the north are absolutely swarming with mosquitos so thick that its almost incomprehensible. In fact, they jokingly call the mosquito the state bird of Wisconsin and Minnesota. It is HORRIBLE!

That happens like 2 weeks a year, and only in the deep forest, where no one lives. In general, Wisconsin and Minnesota have far fewer mosquitos and other pests than somewhere like Florida.

I can say from my experience that Minneapolis has more mosquitos and pests in the summer time than Miami has anytime of the year.

I can not dine al fresco in Minneapolis at night, it's a miserable experience from the bugs. I never had that problem in Miami. In fact, in Miami, I never been bitten by a mosquito.

I can say from my own experience that you couldn't be more wrong. There are FAR more mosquitos in the Deep South than in Minnesota.

I don't think you've been to Miami or Minneapolis based on your wacky claims.

I seriously doubt Minneapolis has more mosquitos than Miami.

That being said, there is mosquito control. There is no "cold control."
