I hate the idea that we are letting millions of illegals in this country, but there is someone bigger than I that is allowing it. I surely can't control it. I don't know what to do except do what I've been doing.
All kidding aside, what all of us can do is e-mail our senators and congressmen that we are against illegal immigration, etc. They may not read our exact note, but the numbers for and against are tabulated by their staffs. We need to make the people in charge hear us!!! It won't take any longer that a post on the CD and may have an impact.
Plus we can vote against these incumbents who are wasting our tax dollars in profusion on stupid, silly projects like the "Bridge to Nowhere in Alaska."
Immigrants want to live where it is WARM and plenty of jobs and fun things to do. That's why they go to California and Florida, and now the rest of the south. They aren't going to the cold, barren places. Now South Florida is so full of Cubans, that not many anglos want to live there. And people are fleeing California for Idaho, etc. We're giving away our Edens to these illegals...
Um, I think the immigrants who are coming now are using the same criteria to pick where to live that they used 100 years ago: They are going where the economic opportunities are. Warm weather and "fun things to do" have nothing to do with it. It just so happens that in today's America, the need for unskilled labor is greatest in the Sun Belt.

I think people prefer warmer climates, but I think if a place has a good amount of jobs, I believe will flock there. Look at New York, Boston, Chicago, and Toronto as good examples. They are in colder climates, yet have large booming populations. Places like Pittsburgh and Cleveland would be attractive places to live if they would re-invent themselves and had more job growth.

Pittsburgh's well on its way to prosperity again. Another decade and it could be truly booming in the medical and educational sectors.

I agree. I've seen first-hand how immigrant neighborhoods can prosper and flourish in shrinking, northern cities. e.g., Mexicantown in Detroit.
Great! I hope those illegals all decide to like cold weather and snow so they can have a job. You can have all of them. We have enough of them down here in the south!
Truely, though, the south is a shorter trip for them from Mexico. They go across a highway that traverses the south from Texas through the southern states and end up down here. Within recent months ICE has been targeting that highway and picking up some of them.
300 million people is quite enough. The government needs to deal with illegal immigration and probably cut down on legal immigration just like most other countries do.
Well if China has 1.3 BILLION people, I'm sure that America can handle not even half of that, especially if we still have ALASKA if people really want to get away from big cities. Sure it will be a costly move, but if one wants to get away badly enough, they'll move.

China has 1 billion people but it doesn't know how to govern them properly. I don't think any government knows how to govern people properly. That's the problem.
People need to stop using China and India as an example. Those countries have so many problems it is not even funny.

Plus, living conditions are extremely crowded in those countries. People in the U.S. are used to lots of room. Don't think we'd like being boxed in one on top the other in teeny little houses.
