Like Long Island (where you live) isn't consistently one of the most segregated places in the country. Dollars to donuts your HS was as white as the midwest cousin's.
Actually no b/c I grew up in a ‘lower’ income area (think Freeport, Uniondale). I was actually the minority but thats why LI is awesome.
Anyway I was talking about the NYC metro as a whole, not specifically LI.
