DanielJ72 makes some good points. What's so bad about making 30k per year in a rural area when you can live just as good or better than someone making 130k per year in NYC?

Zero. You have to go to Oakland or Richmond or Vallejo to find a cheap house.

A 1970s 1br/1ba condo in a less than desirable part of town.

But $200k isn't that much money in this area. Straight out of college, kids regularly make $50k at their first jobs.

200k will get you a good sized home here in Green Bay. I agree with whoever said that they'd rather live in a city with a lot to do, lots of opportunities, etc. than live in the middle of no where. For me, being a single mom with kids I LOVE living here, but if I was young and single..probably not.

You cant really get a house here for under 300K, but even then, it's a piece of crap.
