Removing eyelids would be "obviously" a bad idea because we seem to understand it purpose and don't want ourselves to be subjected to its removal. But, many, don't seem to understand (or don't care), even those who are circumcised because they lose certain aspects over time, with circumcision. They will never know. Which is where these countless circumcised men fit.
Removing eyelids would obviously be a bad idea to anyone who went about 60 seconds without blinking.

I find it amusing that you continue to harp at strawmen. Where did I say that I thought foreskin was intentional? I specifically said that evolution doesn't intend anything and that I have no idea what God intended. Furthermore, I don't know what you mean about my "speak[ing] out loudly." A handful of comments on a fairly obscure forum is hardly speaking out or loud. I doubt I've even used an exclamation point. You're being melodramatic.

So, there was a purpose. You seem to understand it.

Evolution may not "intend" thing but do things simply happen to be there? Don't treat evolution as a person, and we will actually have a meaningful discussion. Perhaps I should ask: Is there a purpose to foreskin? No?
Why do you support circumcision (male only)? Would you support an equivalent female circumcision if you were to find out it exists in certain societies today?
I'm for keeping all boys intact, and I chose to keep my little one intact. I for one feel that this argument for circumcision bogus and hope that they don't start promoting routine circumcisions again.
Einstein, I really wish you'd read what I have answered before instead of asking me the same questions again.

You keep talking about purpose and intent, not me.

I do not treat evolution as as a person. I originally responded to someone who said that her sons were intact, as God and nature intended, which (I said) is a specious statement. Later, I specifically said this:

I don't know if you are actually asking me how evolution works--in my understanding--of if you are just repeating questions I have already answered.

I have said in several posts--and please forgive me for not quoting them, but I have already hacked up several posts to make this one--that I was ambivalent about it and left it up to my husband. I have also said at least twice that I probably would oppose it if we had another son, but that is not happening because my husband has had a vasectomy. I don't know how you jumped from those very plain statements of mine to claims that I am loudly speaking out in favor of circumcision, or that I even particularly support it.
I also don't understand that last statement--"if I were to find out [female circumcision] exists in certain societies today." Not only did I already define the three main types of female genital cutting (removal of the clitoral hood is one type), but you and I then had a conversation about it. You even responded to the final line.

Perhaps there are circumcized American women out there who are glad they had the procedure, but I haven't heard of any.
If you are waiting for the big "AHA! You're a hypocrite!" moment, can I just save you some time and say, "Yeah, probably"?
I really don't understand what your point is anymore.

The question I had was (do you believe): Is there a purpose to foreskin?
I didn't circumcise my son because its his body. I really think its his choice. If he wants it done later he can have it done. He is 13 now and he brought it up to me one day out of the blue, he said "I'm so glad you didn't do that to me." The boys do talk about it at school, they all know who has been cut and who hasn't.
But I have never felt critical of women who do it to their sons either. It was simply my choice, to leave the choice to him.
I watched enough of it to know that it was posted simply for rants such as your own. You are entitled to your opinion, and your own choices of course. You make yours, I'll make mine. And I'll leave it at that.
Your above post makes absolutely no sense. Firstly, this is the Great Debate forum and we are debating circumcision. Why do you think it was not appropriate to post a video of a circumcision? Especially since you claim that the procedure is a calm, smooth, and peaceful ordeal that your son did not even "blink" about. Why do you call my presentation of my opinion "rants?"
rant [verb] 1:to talk loudly and wildly. 2: to scold violently
Kindly show me where I have ranted on this thread.
My posting of a video of a circumcision was a pragmatic attempt to prove my opinion that circumcision is a horrible, brutal procedure that cannot be justified medically, scientifically, or spiritually. Hardly a rant.
