The power behind the bat is at the farthest end of the arc. There is very little power at the inside of the arc. Your weight and speed mean much less than your balance, for just one example. Additionally, not much force is required to shatter your bones, unbalance you, or put you into a world of pain.

So, we should let our disabled and elderly population, people incapable of defending themselves be killed by muggers and home invasion?

Actually, we should save them the trouble, and have mandatory euthanasia centers. So we end up with the best genetic stock possible.
