Im not sure if it qualifies as a big event, but I drove by there yesterday, and the entire hotel parking lot was full and cars were parked in the mall lot as well. Its been that way for a few days.
Yup. My wife is going to convention there next week there, with 500 plus attendances. Believe me, it's the largest conference center in the state.
Yeah, I recall looking at the WFMY stories when they were building the 30-story tower and it showed how it was supposed to connect to the mall. But I think he died and whoever took over did nothing lol that I can recall at this point. Honestly, I cant recall the last big event that was held at that convention center atm.
I know several organizations that have used KCC in recent years. It is especially popular for religious gatherings; I've attended a few myself over the years with the last time being in 2019.
The Koury Convention Center is also the largest "privately" owned convention center between Atlanta and Washington DC.
I've always found it humorous when cities/people make claims like this. I remember when Charlotte would build a tower and proclaim it to be the tallest building between DC and Atlanta. Competing against towers from Winston-Salem, Richmond, and Arlington... not much competition.
Maybe 2nd. Charlotte has 280k Sq ft. ...and Raleigh Convention Center150k Sq ft. Koury is 250k.
Charlotte has to be bigger than 280k...
