Not to be outdone, the car wash on N Main in Mauldin is converting to "The Wave Car Wash" - yes, that's not "Waves" but "The Wave" - apparently expanding out of North Carolina.
The old Palmetto Car Wash? I use to work there many years ago.
Wow! I worked there part time to help pay off some bills back when my first wife died, gosh that place has been there a long time. There was one guy who worked there who went n to bea deputy, but I dont recall which department, Seems his name was Lance.
That store was there in part of the 80's for sure. Can't remember how early. We would stop at Katherine's Kitchen across the way for those giant biscuits on the way to Clemson games and there was also a Hardee's in Clemson for years across from the football stadium going back to the late 70's that was always slammed on Gameday.
Traveling from NC, we used to stop at the old Howard Johnson's in Anderson up on the hill on the way from Charlotte to Atlanta. Good stopping point half way right off I-85 at the Clemson exit. Good food back in the day. The last HOJO's in the US closed last December in Upstate New York. Wish they could make a comeback along with Big Boy as a national franchise.
