The Walmart Neighborhood Market in Gray Court opens at 7:30am tomorrow..
I know, not a whole lot of people care about Laurens, as it's just barely a part of the upstate.. But.. So few things open here anyway..
About a week and a half ago or so.. The convenience store on the corner of 101 and 14 closed. I mentioned that either in a post here or in the recently closed topic that I expected that to happen.. Just didn't think it would happen so quickly.
The Gray Court pharmacy will likely be the next to go. That'll complete the trifecta of Walmart putting local, but crappy, Gray Court businesses out of business. I might add a 4th to the list.. They could take out Linda's Grocery as well, which is a small discount grocery store.
Years ago there was a nursery on the site.. Which then became a car dealership.. So.. It wasn't an empty lot.. But there was an old greenhouse building there along with an old barn which was demolished.
The site doesn't link back here or cite city-data.com posts as a source. That partial attribution is a bit rude but doesn't ruffle my feathers or anything. Nosing around, it looks like Valien runs it. He's an active contributor here too, so it's not like he's just taking other people's stuff. Just speaking for myself, I'm okay with it! It would be nice if Valien added a link back where appropriate, though.
Check out the new Neighborhood Market in Clemson and how it looks nicer than the ones being built around Greenville. The crown top, enclosed Vestibule in front, more use of brick including brick pavers in front, added decorative lighting on side of building. Greenville really needs to improve their design requirements for big boxes. Walmart Neighborhood Market opens in Clemson

I've visited the new Walmart NM in Simpsonville twice and was not overly impressed. Pretty much on the same level, service wise at least, as a SuperCenter. Stores are clean (they are new). A couple of the items I've wanted were OOS even though the store has been open 2 weeks. The isles are a bit more cramped compared to a Super Bi-Lo or Publix. The Deli was very slow for service and the meat selection was poor.
On the bright side, the checkout lines were short(er) than you see at a typical Walmart. I don't think I saved that much more over Bi-Lo or Publix.
Was here for a private group event last night. The place is fabulously unique, and the owners and staff are knowledgeable, helpful and friendly.
For those who don't know where it is, on Woodruff in the same area where Whole Foods is but not attached to the building. Their store faces Ghengis Grill across the parking lot, next to a dental place and a few other stores. Very unusual store!
Had no idea I liked liquers!!!
