So I have had bad constipation for the last three months now about and the doctor put me on three different medications so far.
The first was restorelax, which literally had no effect on me at all. The second was metamucil which got rid of about half of it, per day, but not all.
The third was senokot which does a much better job, but I have to go 2-3 times a day with it, when normally, before the constipation problem, I would just go once a day.
I am taking Senokot-S, which has a a stool softener in, hence the S. But senokot causes me to go in little pieces here and there throughout the day, rather than in one big go, like I would normally go before. If I bought regular Senokot without the S (stool softener), would that likely help and I would go in little bits at a time?
Yeah I think I drink lots of water, and eat fiber. My diet is pretty good I think but since I started dieting better, that has been what has causing the problem perhaps. I ate ice cream a weak ago, and pigged out at my sister's birthday party, and then the next day, I took a really big dump.
So I feel it's the healthy eating that has been causing the lack of waste produce. Perhaps I don't have as much waste to produce compared to before? But that's just a guess.
I take extra magnesium all day. I buy a complex that contains some oxide so I get the movements going. I also now take ox bile or bile acid factors both work the same way. And adding the last has made a huge difference for me. They offered me a pharma drug in the rehabs and I would not go there, had my friends bring me more magnesium to keep "moving". And WARM to HOT water helps a lot...not cold water.
Oh okay I could try it but every time I try herbal, it doesn't do as much good, and the pharmaceutical medications always seem to do better. But I can try it.

We're talked about magnesium deficiency anyway on many threads. One has to stick with it daily. Works for me but I would take mag over a drug any day. Magnesium is a mineral, important one for a lot of health issues. If you do good on the pharma then that's where you need to be.
Okay thanks. I will try it but if it's just a light remedy, I may need something heavier since I tried three things which don't exactly get the job done. But not too heavy, since I don't want to go more than once a day.
Try Miralax. It's a powder and you mix it into a liquid. You can put some into a smoothie. Doesn't work right away but will work by the next day. It can be kind of expensive but it does work. It isn't habit forming either.
Warm prune juice. One glass every morning to keep you regular, at least until the situation resolves. Worked like a charm for me. Plus it's cheap compared to meds. https://www.healthline.com/health/di...r-constipation
