People forget about Beck's because it isn't very good.

Exactly. Tried Becks twice a few years ago... Nasty burgers and overpriced.

Insanity!! I think Beck's has the best burgers in a Houston chain restaurant! Fresh buns, freshly ground Angus beef (daily), mesquite grilled beef (over coals...real wood), sauteed onion slices...how can one go wrong!?

Really though, was it just the taste or something? I consider myself a burger guy, and love local 'non chain' restaurants that do it right, but I have to admit, Beck's makes a bad-a burger. One of the best I've had. It is very expensive though for a patty and two buns...but so worth it while you eat it.

Ya, i've been to the one in Memorial. It's a very decent burger.
I'm not a fan of 5 guys, at all.

Whataburger was new to me, not being from the south.
We had wendys, mcd's, bking, etc. All typical fast food.
What struck me about Whataburger was that it was the closest to a real burger... something I'd make at home on the grill. Definitely a fan. That is until Smashburger showed up. OMG. I could eat the patty right off the grill, no "fixins" or anything. Oh, and those parmesan fries.

Do you know where I haven't been for a burger in a long time? (I bet you don't)

Barnaby's. I need to go there to get a burger and some fresh lemonade.

I know, what's wrong with those people? That's one hellacious burger! Maybe it was the cost, but as I said, I paid over $10.00 for a burger at Five Guys the other day and couldn't help thinking how much better it is at Beck's. It might have been another dollar, maybe.

I don't mind paying a little extra for a burger once in a while. It's similar to going to a restaurant, or another better-than-average fast place like La Madeleine.

Allstars in Katy makes some decent burgers, if you need to drag the kids along.
I like their "don't mess with texas" burger with the fried egg. Ask for medium rare and it usually comes out nice and pink. And the sourdough bun is pretty good. Definitely better than any fast food chain.

But my favorite in town, probably due to the sweet bun they use, is the burgers at Jonathan's Rub in Spring Branch.
