Its not the cost at becks its the burger. Its supposed to be juicy but not something that could be wrung out and fill a small lap pool. The patty is flavorless.

Bernie's brick and mortar has officially opened up in bellaire.

Along with "...what neighborhoods have the best schools, no crime, some diversity but not too much, proximity to shopping, downtown and TMC..." I think the burger discussions are some of the most popular threads here in Houston c-d.

Interesting. The patty, IMO, has a ton of smoked mesquite and grilled flavor from the coals. Almost over the top at times, but I love that taste. What BP location did you have this unfortunate experience at????? Flavorless is definitely not a word that would come to mind in regards to their patty. It's quite the opposite.

I do agree with one thing. The burger is crazy juicy. The beef has a fairly high fat content, I'm sure....just the way I like it.

I like their "don't mess with texas" burger with the fried egg. Ask for medium rare and it usually comes out nice and pink. And the sourdough bun is pretty good. Definitely better than any fast food chain.

But my favorite in town, probably due to the sweet bun they use, is the burgers at Jonathan's Rub in Spring Branch.
Speaking of Katy, have you been to J-Dubs Burger Barn!? I just found out about them earlier this week and plan to give them a try. Heard nothing great things about them. They use a 50/50 beef to brisket mix.

Thought I'd add this as an ode to burgers. Anyone recognize this classic burger joint that was featured in an episode of Mad Men? Wish we still had 'em.

I don't know, but it sure looks like the old Whataburger joint they had on Long Point when I was a kid. I'm guessing it's not Whataburger though since it was featured on Mad Men.

When I was a kid, decades ago, my dad used to take us to that Whataburger on Long Point fairly often.

The sad thing is that my mom wanted to buy a ranch style home across on the other side of 10 in the Memorial area, but my dad didn't want to deal with the huge yard he'd have to take car of, so they bought a townhouse on the north side of 10. We all know what a mistake that turned out to be. lol. The townhouse probably hasn't increased in value much, while that ranch house on the 1/3 acre probably has been torn down with four homes on the lot that are each a million plus.

Apparently NOT.

Saturated Houston Burger Market

There are several retailers I'd love to see set up in Houston but they have all targeted Dallas, San Antonio and Austin first. They've been in those cities successfully for a couple to several years with no sign of coming to Houston.

Don't worry, we now have 3 In-N-Outs in Austin and they are overcrowded and overrated.
