Do you claim the TMC is misleading or pushing an agenda by reporting they are 19% into Phase 2 excess capacity? That is not positive news, no matter how you spin it.

If in a dire emergency I can technically shelter 150 people in my 5 bedroom home by lining them up in rows on the floor (I did the math), is it misleading to report my house is overcrowded with just 75?

The only lie here is the nonsense about the bogeyman media who are simply reporting what hospitals, doctors and public health professionals are telling them.

It's been 24 days, are the beds all full?

You may be shocked to know that 3 million Americans die every year.

Being in Phase 2 is not exactly a crisis, but neither is it a sustainable state. Hospitals needs to cannibalize resources to sustain the extra level of intensive care and non covid operations and procedures need to be delayed. This had nothing to do with regulations or fear - they just don't have the resources to do it.

So why weren't they furiously adding capacity and resources in April and May? The cost would be a tiny fraction of the economic cost of shutting down bars and restaurants.

Based on what I've heard the bottleneck is staffing. Doctors and intensive care nurses don't grow on trees as they say, and it's hard to 'make more' in a couple of months.

Cuz you gotta staff new converted units. There are only so many ICU trained nurses/docs.

So why has the refrain been "we're running out of beds" and not "we're running out of doctors and nurses"? And why can't they transfer staff from low demand states or even countries? When a hurricane devastates a state, disaster assistance and power crews come in from all over the country.

No. I'm saying whoever issued that press release you are quoting is a deceitful spin.

And they aren't going to be stacking them up in the hallways. Again you are making stuff up to generate irrational fear. They are converting sections of regular rooms to ICU beds. Its on the website.

See, here's the thing - I didn't quote any press release at all. I quoted the Texas Medical Center's own Key Takeaways slide.
