There is A LOT of evidence otherwise.

The most all encompassing suburb in the state is Plano, IMO. Frisco may overtake it though.
Plano isn't a suburb. It's an incorporated city, and has been for many decades. When we lived there in the late 60's/early 70's, it in no way identified as a suburb of Dallas. I doubt that's changed.

It's a suburb. It may have more jobs than the average suburb but it is still a suburb of Dallas by the classic definition.

Never lived (only visited) but Conroe used to not identify as a Houston suburb and now it does. So these things can change.

So your claim has been proven false by your own link.
Furthermore, check the employment data (which is what I was really talking about). Would I claim that Houston was booming 2015-2016? No way. But population growth was still strong during that period.

Per GDP, Houston was ahead of DFW all of the first half of 2010s. Then DFW most of the second half. And in 2019, almost tied (meaning Houston’s grew faster for the year). We’ll see how 2020 days pans up in December.

If you're the type who just wants a couple of beers everyday after work with a game of pool or two thrown in, then going to the same couple of bars everyday is good enough for you. If you seek more of a variety of happy hour spots or night-time kicks, pretty much ANY suburb will get old rather quickly.

Suburban life is generally for those who are raising families and want to be in a somewhat safer area of town. Those types are not generally thinking about what club is the trendiest or where the highest concentration of beautiful women or handsome men are. These people (for the most part) just need a grocery store, park, good school, and worthwhile clothing store. A couple of decent restaurants would be nice, too. If and when they DO decide they want to party, I'm sure that driving into the city wouldn't be a problem since it will almost ALWAYS be done exclusively on the weekend.

Babysitters exist for a reason
You summed up exactly my thoughts while catching up on earlier posts.

I get the talk about people wanting more amenities in the suburbs; though, I can’t envision a scenario in which a suburb would ever have better entertainment (i.e., sports, concerts (stadium tours), festivals, etc.) and restaurants options than the city center in the metro.

BTW, we (I) are so off topic. I did respond to the original question in an earlier post. :-)

Exactly. Though I'm not sure 2020 will be an example of much other than those types of circumstances (pandemic or similar phenomenon) for any metro area or even the nation.

Yes. But it will be interesting to see who’s GDP got hit harder by the pandemic. My guess is Houston but I’ve seen pretty bad news for both so I wouldn’t be surprised either way.

Honestly, it’s not even just about the clubs. Spring in general is in the convo for most “all encompassing” suburb here. They really do have it all. They have good food (though Katy still wins with their Asia Town and all). They have the bars and clubs. They have corporate campuses like Exxon, HP, HPE, ABS, etc. Good overall amenities.

The school district does need work though but it exceeds everywhere else.

I’d still take Katy because the proximity to EC and Memorial are good enough to replace the employment in Spring. And Katy leads everywhere else. And of course for the school district.
