I'm a native Floridian and have to be the peacemaker of the family concerning the gators and noles. The only thing my family agrees on is to let TX have Ike...

I'd rather invoke NAFTA. Share and share alike? I guess we can stand some more as in truth we still need water levels brought back up. I'm game as long as we can down grade to a TD before landfall. And for the record you failed to mention Francis and Jeanne that followed Charley right right over the top of my house. Maybe TX has to have the next two after Ike. All jokes aside stay safe. He will have a far reaching toll due to his size no matter where he makes his invasion. The waiting and uncertainty of storms like Ike take a mental toll long before the winds arrive. Wishing the best for all of TX. We are behind you.

On The Weather Channel, Jim Cantore is interviewing the mayor of Galveston over the telephone. This mayor is clueless! I don't think she unsderstands that Ike isn't just a rainstorm. Hopefully, the residents of Galveston have more sense than their mayor.

Yeah - I'm very surprised she didn't order a mandatory evac. Too little too late. This potentially could devastate that island.

For the sake of the living I home everyone who can leaves Galveston. Especially if it is to take on Ike's eastern side. Maybe in his case because of travel direction the northern side. That wall of water coming ashore will not be pretty. There is no property or possession worth dying over during a storm. This is not the kind of surf you want up....

If you have javascript installed you can play this from NOAA.

Then decide if you really want to stay anywhere near the coast.

Gulf of Mexico Visible Imagery - Satellite Services Division

Ike is headed a way from FL and the news is reporting flooding on our gulf coast.

Best wishes.

I don't know why you are going to stay either! If it hits South of you, you will have the northeastern quadrant to deal with and that won't be pretty! If it hits on top of you, you will have the hurricane winds and surge and torrential rain to deal with! Lady, please I want to be able to talk with you next week!!!!!!! Oh you are scaring me.
