I've found The Grill in the Ammon Wal Mart Center to be a nice new breakfast spot!

I must agree, Cleosmom, and tmp4. Especially for the price, there was a variety of both lunch and breakfast food today around noon. I can't say I sat in the restaurant and ate my French toast, but I did look around and talked to the owners. This restaurant is open seven days/week from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. It was clean, service was good, the people who asked me to come were split down the middle half got lunch and half got breakfast. Carmel French toast, or maybe waffles, was a huge hit with two. They have Clay Chowder on Fridays instead of Vegetable Soup.

I'd go back again, even for a takeout.

Yumm

Yeah, just noticed after posting, you've not arrived yet. Bear in mind, it's in the same parking lot, not inside the store

I just ate at Gator Joe's for the first time, and found their cajun food to be excellent and the real deal. Years ago, I hung out with a couple of cajuns who were here for the summer, and they both cooked up a storm. I never thought I would ever taste real cajun in Idaho again after they left.

They introduced me to alligator, which is actually very tasty. Gator Joe's has it, and will add it to some of their dishes for another couple of dollars. To tell the truth, in a jambalaya, gator does taste like chicken, and with any jambalaya, its all in the rue, the flavoring base that's cooked up before the rice, shrimp, sausage and the veggies are all added in. A good rue is spicy, but not nearly as hot as most Mexican food; it should have a little kick, though, to make it right.

The next time I visit, I'm getting a po'boy, another cajun standard, a shrimp sandwich. If Joe's gets that one right, I'll probably become a regular. Good stuff, and a refreshing change from all the same-o that's available in all the big chain restaurants here. I hope they do well.
