Not really. The value of the home is mostly determined by the recent selling history of comparable homes in the area.

Ah, what a wonderful day!

Set the cruise control at 70 and made it down to Laughlin in exactly an hour and a half. (The only slowdown occured in Searchlight where they make you crawl through the town at 25mph.) Little to no traffic with which to be concerned, so we just enjoyed the scenery (especially the winding road near Christmas Pass on 163). I think I even got a bit of a sunburn on the drive down there.

We spent the afternoon walking along the Riverwalk from one end to the other, and then darted in and out of the various casinos just to check them out. We stopped for lunch in an outdoor restaurant right on the river, and enjoyed the sun and the scenery. The food was just meh, but that was secondary anyway to being able to eat outdoors in 75 degree weather in the middle of December.

As the sun began to set, we decided to do a little gambling before we left. We decided on the Colorado Belle for old time's sake because it was the only casino hotel that we remembered from our one and only trip to Laughlin in the 1980s. While my wife tried her luck on the slot machines, I went to play some poker. Unfortunately, the only game they had going was 2/4 limit (otherwise known as two-card bingo), but I sat down anyway to while away the time until my wife lost her usual $20 a few pennies at a time (she's not much of a gambler). Imagine my surprise when she came by about an hour or so later to tell me that she won $53. Even more surprising, I managed to turn a $40 profit myself playing 2/4 when my jacks full of tens won out over someone else's tens full of jacks.

We both cashed out, took another short walk down the Riverwalk to the Aquarius Hotel where our car was parked, and put the top down once again in preparation for the driver home. This time we enjoyed the beautiful night sky, with both the moon and the stars shining brightly in the otherwise pitch-black sky.

All in all, it was a great day.

This seems like the kind of song somebody would listen to on a road trip in a convertible in the warm Southern Nevada sun Enjoy
Thanks, Davie. Not a big Michael McDonald fan, but I did really like that movie.

I actually listened to ESPN radio on the way down to Laughlin yesterday and then 92.3 on the way back last night for some old school rock (Pink Floyd, GnR, AC/DC, Ozzy, etc).

Was that little rinky-dinky (and smokey) casino/diner still in Searchlight? I won $100 on a VP machine there one time...and it still paid in quarters in a bucket!

How about The Pioneer...is that still in Laughlin? For some reason...probably the Old West feel....I always like that place.

Not sure which one you're referring to. I noticed at least two casinos as we were crawling though town, one on each side of the highway. One was Terrible's, but I don't recall the name of the other one we saw.

Yep, still there, although we didn't walk through their casino.

Speaking of Laughlin....I noticed that they have (or had) several public beach areas with sand along the river, but that access to all of them had been closed and the areas were in disrepair. Anyone know the story?

Left hand side as you come into town from Las Vegas. If I remember correctly, right before...or right after the traffic light.
