But yet, now suddenly everyone has changed their mind? Yeah right, the only thing that has changed is a woman who people do like and respect is going, unlike me. SouthernSarah also received a large response of people for a meetup until she cancelled it. Therefore, I will not have any part in it. My friend is right, I would have been a total fool to have gone.
p.s Elletea, all this is unrelated to you, so I am sure you understand.

Aqualung stood you up as I recall. He did not call to tell you he would not be there.

I never mentioned who it was, so I do not know why you would say it was you? I do not breach confidentiality on this forum, but since you did admit it, yeah I guess I can say I was referring to you. Trust me, I was waiting for almost an hour and it was very depressing.
I have no ill feelings to you at all, but I was only referring to the incident to explain why I would not want to even attempt to go to another get together consider the bad experiences I have had in the past.

I say it was me because it was me. I have no ill feelings for you either but I do tire of people who constantly play the victim. Life happens LVD. Life is not fair. It never will be. One has to develop coping skills to get by. Drinking oneself to death is not a coping skill. Having said that, I think of you often and wish the best for you.

So let's examine this- LVD will not meet up with ElleTea because he was stood up by me, aqualung, and others. What a weak excuse. In a previous post you indicated that you would not meet up because you were a "different person". In other words you have low self esteem. Why can't you just say you don't want to meet up because you don't like the person you have become? It is pretty lame to place the blame on being "stood up". Not to be crude but you need to grow a pair LVD.

Unfortunately, I am more of a follower than a leader. I listened to my friend last night but maybe he was wrong too. From the last hour I have been on here I have received multiple DM's from a very caring person who has already motivated me to go. I now have called the CD member who offered to drive me and I will be there regardless, no chickening out this time. I do not like the person I have become, but I have been assured that no one will care how much I drink. I have nothing to worry about as I never become mean or violent when I drink, and I might even make some new friends. One thing people do not know about me is that in real life I am extremely shy and withdrawn, and I would rather drink at home and feel sorry for myself. Regardless, there are quite a few people who are going that I would actually like to meet. There is no one who I dislike on the guest list so I will have a good time. Time to get out of my shell for once, and if I do cancel I (I won't), you all have the right to call me a wuss from now on.

I hope you have a great time, but here is the truth. I did totally plan on going, but I was on the phone with my best friend from Phoenix last night, and he talked me out of it. He reminded me of something I had forgot about, especially since he had come out with me on my attempts to set up a city data meetups in the past. I tried twice. No one, with the one exception of teach1234, showed up. This is unrelated to those, but I even had a woman on here who is a regular poster contact me and ask her to meet at Bill's Casino, and then proceed to stand me up (she knows who she is). On Aqualung8705 and my own attempts to have a get together, there were constant excuses that a lot of people do not want to go to the casino and drink. But yet, now suddenly everyone has changed their mind? Yeah right, the only thing that has changed is a woman who people do like and respect is going, unlike me. SouthernSarah also received a large response of people for a meetup until she cancelled it. Therefore, I will not have any part in it. My friend is right, I would have been a total fool to have gone. 
I have no ill feelings to you at all, but I was only referring to the incident to explain why I would not want to even attempt to go to another get together consider the bad experiences I have had in the past.
