People who go through the hassle, FBI background check and pay their dues to conceal carry are not the guys holding up the corner store.

If you don't mind open carry then why would you oppose conceal carry? The bad guys don't follow the law so they are going to have concealed weapons regardless of the rules. M3's point about the legit conceal carry citizens being at a disadvantage if forced to open carry is true. Why would you want criminals to have the advantage?

It's ok, we'll be shooting lasers out of our smart phones in a few years so the whole point will be moot anyway.

Open carry is an invitation to be hassled. Police may even try to cite you for disturbing the peace. Conceal carry is never an issue for the carrier as the general public won't see your weapon and won't be alarmed.

The gun thing: That's another reason I am a little hesitant to confront someone in the parking lot if they hit my car with theirs or their car doors. What if they pull out a gun? Hasn't happened yet, but it has happened to others(saw it on the news a few times.)

As for yesterday, The sheriffs office replied that they cannot file online crime complaints yet and to go to a substation and file one. Husband says he is not going to waste the high deductible on a few dents and doesn't want to report it. I say they can't just get away with doing this to everyone and to go and file a report. Husband says it isn't worth it and we just have to live with it. I then mentally smack him for being so stubborn.

Sorry this happened to you

I had a similar situation back in January on the corner of Charleston and Fremont that involved an illegal immigrant who could only say "NO POLICIA NO POLICIA"

Only reason I didnt call the cops was because I still had FL plates and didnt want to get in more trouble, it wasnt worth fixing the dent his 1992 Geo Metro made to my Altima, so I just let it go, body shop wanted $800 to fix such a small dent

When I lived back in Massachusetts I witnessed a guy in a BMW run over (presumably) an illegal alien head on while riding a bike. The guy was hurt pretty bad but got up and immediately starting limping away and left his bike there.
