True. That is if LVD was truthful about the fact that he was not going to stop drinking. Sometimes I think when desperation/love/loneliness/being drunk kicks in you may just convey things a little distorted. At any rate, I agree they both need to move on. And they both need to believe in themselves.

There are 3 sides to every story. His, hers, and what really happened.

And what good is basic health health insurance from a company, if you're low income, and you're unable to afford the co-payments, deductibles and prescription drugs? Lot of good that does!!!

Dental insurance is even more of joke! A co-worker has dental insurance, and for a dental procedure she was seeking, it called for her to pay $800 of the $1800 bill. She's ain't got it! So?

There are more companies than you think not offering basic health insurance for their employee's. It is not just LVD, it's thousands of others. He can get on waiting lists for free medical, but the waiting lists are 5-6 months or longer. And he has to show proof of income to be approved. Which includes bank accounts, any savings, etc. Just do a search for "free or low cost medical care in las vegas."

I also agree with you Tij, if you can't afford to pay for it, what good will it do you? Just try to live well and do the best you can and try not to have to use the services of a doctor, etc. Easier said than done though.

What do you make of women today dropping that line: That's a man's job?
If a man said: That's a woman's job, they'd be hung from the nearest tree, perhaps fired or suspended from their jobs.

There's a woman I work with, who's been corrected too many times because she doesn't sugar-coat her dictatorial requests, uses not an iota of tact, has been repeatedly criticized for it, but it goes in one ear and out the other.

I ran into that last nite at work: We're out of water (those big jugs for the water cooler) and put a new jug in there! No please! Just a Hitlerian type of order! It's not even part of my job description, and I don't drink bottled water as 70% of it is untested. San Francisco was smart to ban bottled water!

I've seen any number of women put a new jug in the water cooler, without any complaints whatsoever. Last night I refused, and she states now she hates me!

Say please, and I would have done it! No matter, in my books, with women now serving in the military, it's a sexist comment!

So putting water jugs on the water thing is a mans job? If you are using the large bottles that weigh 50 lbs, I think a man could do it easier. I can however put one on the thing, although it is sometimes an effort. I would think a man would do if for me out of courtesy. But I would never expect it. I believe in equal opportunity.

Now growing up in my mainly female household, taking out the trash was the boys job. I still think of it as something men do, it's just ingrained in the brain. But I do take it out as well.

I have never once had a job that offered health insurance. I looked it up and it is the 7th leading cause of death. My dad owned his own business, but he only made enough just to get by. He could not afford health insurance for my mom and him. Sure enough, at only 47 years old he dropped dead of a massive heart attack. It was preventable. Same thing goes for my mom. She was kept having pain not knowing what to do. This went on for years. Luckily, she met this succesfull guy and he put her under his health insurance. She then went to the doctor, but it was already too late. She had cancer and it had spread. The doctor said the same thing in that if they caught it earlier she would still be here. So she only made it to 52. Now I am following in their footsteps. I did try to go to the Nevada Health Center last month because they only charged me $25 for the visit. The doctor told me something very disturbing. She said I have all the signs of MS. She then said it would take tens of thousands of dollars in tests to diagnose me. I guess I will never find out. I seriously doubt I will even make it to the end of the year in the condition I am in.

The doctor that told you that you have MS and it will take tens of thousands of dollars to diagnose you...well, get a second, third and fourth opinion. Don't just take someones word for gospel. Do your own research. There are always natural alternatives for just about everything out there.
I have cured myself of many things. I take no meds since they only mask symptoms, not cure them. Why waste my time making the drug companies happy?

We as human beings have a lot of power over what we eat, drink, if we get exercise, etc. Don't think that by having health insurance that it is a cure all for everything and you can just continue with self-destructive habits and you will be miraculously saved. Because it doesn't happen that way. Hope you figure it out someday.

She said I have the signs of it, not that I have it for sure. Even know I qualified for the largest discount on the sliding scale payment system, the problem is they have to send you out to specialists, tests, and scans that offer no discounts. Just the initial tests alone were $690. Then, get this, they put me on an anti-depressant that has the side effect of suicidal thoughts. I am depressed because I am in pain, so an anti-depressant is useless. As far as natural herbs, I have pretty much tried them all, and none helped. I know that it would only mask the effects, but I asked to be put on Oxycontin or Percocet and they refused. I am not going back.

I don't even take herbs. I changed what I eat and I walk. Walking all by itself is a mood lifter. Better than anti-depressants.
You have to figure out what works for you and just do it. I am tired of being a free information dispenser.
