We go sledding on Long Island! This year has stunk snow-wise (only got 2 days of sledding/tubing so far), but normally we have all kinds of fun with the kids.

We drive to Jersey for Six Flags. To PA for Dorney Park, Hershey, Lancaster County. There's some nice weekend trip spots nearby.

Not really into drag racing or riding ATV's. Heard it's fun though.

Believe it or not this is a serious question that I'd really like to see answered.
So if you were going to sell someone from out of the area on why they should move to Island, what would you put before them?
You nailed it...the 3 best things I miss the most from Long island, besides my friends...

I'm from the N. Shore so we never really went sledding on Bald Hill anyway. Usually we go to the golf course on Sheep Pasture behind Stony Brook Hospital. There's lots of other spots too, including the good ol' sump down the block from our house.

Actually, besides being close to Manhattan, if somebody asked me to give them reasons to move to LI, I don't even know if I could come up with 5 good ones.....if you are young and you want to be close to the Big Apple, then it might be good for you.

However, the taxes are atrocious, the politicians are corrupt, housing prices on LI are still very high compared to other areas of the country, there are really no businesses moving here (if anything, they are moving OUT of NY) the infrastructure and roads are in great disrepair, the LIRR is one of the oldest and most unreliable train systems in the country, and did I say taxes are crazy?.....

Sooooo.....you decide.....

For myself, as a young guy in his late 20's here on LI, its pretty difficult to swing it if you don't have a good job......half of my good friends who are over 25 still live at home because they can't afford an apt on their salaries.....

Your friends sound like smart people. Unless they spend the money they should be saving on partying. Can you give me 5 good reasons to move elsewhere.
